It started a couple days ago, when I challenged my friends to give me topics, wherein I would come up with a pun about it. They would throw out random things, trying to stump me. My friend Kelly came close to shutting me up when she told me to make a pun out of "Michael." It took a while, but I eventually came up with: "What would happen if I were the star of Home Alone?" "I would be called Michael-Lee Culkin." ...Har.
So yesterday, the idea suddenly dawned on me that I shouldn't make this game a one-sided affair. Why should I be the only one subjecting everyone to my puns? Why not make it a competition?
Thus sprung forth my idea for a game, tentatively titled "Word Playtime." If you shook your head judgmentally at the title, then I've done my job. =)
The premise of the game is similar to the challenge - someone throws out a topic, and everyone tries to make a pun out of it. A different person will throw out the topic each round, so it won't be too unfair. A Popsicle stick joke is probably best - nice and short. A time limit should be set to come up with something - 30 seconds, say. The game works best if at least one other person isn't participating. The more people, the better.
Then, when time's up, have everyone give their jokes/puns. For every groan the pun elicits, the person gets a point. A chuckle will get 1/2 point. A full on laugh gets zero (sorry, but puns just aren't that funny...), and if the pun results in anger, I think you've done something wrong.
Oh, and double points if you get this reaction:

Sadly, I'm pretty sure I'll still be the only one playing. Sigh.
